Page Light
Privacy, briefly.
Page Light does not intentionally collect personal information, analytics, advertising data, or usage profiles. It has no accounts and no servers of its own. What it does send, and to whom, is set out below.
What is stored, and where
On Android, reading settings, saved styles, collections, history, reading positions, offline article text and eligible images stay on that device. They are not transmitted to us, and there is no server of ours holding them.
Deleting the app deletes that device's local data. Export writes a reading profile or a reader-data backup of settings, profiles, reading lists and history to a file you control; Import reads one back. Downloaded offline article files are not included. Page Light does not operate a cross-device account or sync service.
What leaves your device
When you search or open an article, your device requests it directly from Wikipedia's public API, and images load directly from Wikimedia's servers. Those requests go to the Wikimedia Foundation, not through us. Like any web service, Wikimedia receives ordinary request details including IP address, device and browser information, requested pages, search terms, and request times. Wikimedia says identifiable request and search records are generally deleted, aggregated or de-identified within 90 days. Its handling is governed by the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy and Data Retention Guidelines.
This product website is served from Vercel, which, like any web host, processes standard server request logs, including IP address and user agent, under its own terms. We add no analytics, tracking pixels, cookies or fingerprinting. The website is not a Page Light reader and does not receive your article searches.
Page Light's typefaces are included with the website and Android app. Loading them does not contact Google Fonts or another font service. The iOS app uses typefaces already on the device.
Google Play purchases
The Android app includes a free reader, a seven-day local Premium trial and an optional one-time Premium purchase. Google Play processes that purchase under your Google account and Google's privacy terms. Page Light receives the product and purchase status needed to unlock or restore Premium and sends Google Play the required purchase acknowledgement. We do not receive or store your card number, billing address or Google account credentials, and no purchase information is sent to a Page Light server.
The app stores only a local trial start time and a cached Premium-unlocked status so a verified purchase keeps working offline. When connected, Google Play remains authoritative for purchase restoration and refunds.
What we never do
- No Page Light account, sign-in or profile
- No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- We do not sell personal data, and do not share it for advertising
- No cookies set by us
Children
Page Light does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Note that it displays Wikipedia, which is not a curated or age-filtered encyclopedia and may contain material unsuitable for younger readers.
Not affiliated with Wikipedia
Page Light is an independent reader. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Wikimedia Foundation. Article text is contributed by Wikipedia's editors and licensed CC BY-SA 4.0; images carry their own licences.
Copyright and image concerns
Page Light shows only Wikimedia-hosted images whose current metadata identifies a reusable licence. That includes clearly free files hosted either on Wikimedia Commons or a local Wikipedia repository; files marked non-free, fair-use, restricted, or unclear remain withheld. Page Light displays the stated author, licence, licence terms and source file page with each shown image, and notes that it is displayed resized. Wikimedia does not warrant that community-supplied licensing information is correct.
If you believe an image should not be displayed or its credit is incomplete, email admin@pagelight.net with the article and image source links. We aim to acknowledge reports within seven days and will disable an image promptly when appropriate.

If this policy ever changes, the date below changes with it. Any material change to Page Light's data practices will be stated here before it takes effect.
Who makes this
Page Light is developed by Sami Serrag. Its business model does not depend on advertising, tracking or personal-data profiles.
